If you visit Oia to watch the notorious sunset, or if you’re lucky enough to be staying there, a sound choice for dinner is Roka Restaurant. It’s welcoming, reasonably priced, popular with Greeks, and adheres to the motto, “keep local, keep fresh”. Start with a speciality of the island, tomato keftedes Santorinis (tomato
fritters), followed by delicious tender arnaki kotsi (lamb shank cooked with lemon sauce), and a Roka salad (mixed lettuce leaves, rocket, spinach, fennel, walnuts and manouri cheese). You’ll find it hidden away down a side alley, marked “POKA” (“roka” in Greek characters).
