Santorini’s Metaxi Mas means ‘between us’ and this quaint eatery does feel like a secret hideaway for special friends. Totally off the tourist trail, it occupies an old stone cottage hidden away behind a roadside church. In summer you’ll be eating outside on a
lovely terrace, and feasting on Santorini specialities such as fava (a purée made with yellow lentils), and creative taverna fare – try the shrimps cooked in fennel and ouzo, and the colourful salad of fresh spinach, orange, walnuts, parmesan and pomegranate.
