En la \u00e9poca medieval, antes de la invasi\u00f3n espa\u00f1ola, la isla era conocida como <em>Maxorata<\/em>. Hoy en d\u00eda, a la gente de <strong>Fuerteventura<\/strong> a\u00fan se les conoce como majoreros, que tambi\u00e9n <\/p>\n<p>da nombre a la especialidad de <a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Queso_majorero\">queso local<\/a>.
