Los lugare\u00f1os llaman a su ciudad con el nombre catal\u00e1n de Perpiny\u00e0, y la bandera catalana roja y amarilla ondea al lado de la tricolor francesa. La <a href=\"http:\/\/www.festival-suddefrance.com\/Regional-products.184.0.html\">comida<\/a> tiene un sabor caracter\u00edstico, con platos como la sepia, el pastel de anchoas de Colliure o el jam\u00f3n de los Pirineos. La gente de Perpi\u00f1\u00e1n baila la sardana, danza catalana ejecutada en grupo y en c\u00edrculo, y a muchos todav\u00eda les gustan los toros \u2013aunque el rugby es a\u00fan m\u00e1s popular.
