Considerada la <strong>capital musical del pa\u00eds<\/strong>, es la cuna de Johann Sebastian Bach, y los nombres de Mendelssohn y Wagner tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n estrechamente ligados a Leipzig. La cultura tambi\u00e9n desempe\u00f1a aqu\u00ed un papel protagonista, gracias a su antiqu\u00edsima universidad, que data de 1409, y a museos y academias de arte de renombre internacional. En cuanto a la historia, Leipzig es conocida como la \u00abciudad de los h\u00e9roes\u00bb por haber desempe\u00f1ado un papel muy importante durante la revoluci\u00f3n de 1989 que condujo a la reunificaci\u00f3n de Alemania. <\/p>\n<p>Dado que es una de las grandes ciudades m\u00e1s interesantes de Alemania, conviene dedicarle al menos un par de d\u00edas. Comienza tu ruta desde el casco antiguo, en particular desde la plaza del mercado, <strong>Marktplatz<\/strong>, sede del mercado al aire libre los fines de semana y del animado mercado navide\u00f1o durante las fiestas. Aqu\u00ed llama la atenci\u00f3n el gran <strong>Ayuntamiento de la Ciudad Vieja<\/strong>, que data del siglo XVI; el edificio alberga ahora el Museo de Historia de Leipzig, que explora el pasado de la ciudad. <\/p>\n<p>En el casco antiguo se pueden admirar edificios de varias \u00e9pocas, como la Antigua Bolsa, del siglo XVII, y la imponente <strong>iglesia g\u00f3tico-rom\u00e1nica de Santo Tom\u00e1s<\/strong>, famosa porque Bach fue director musical de la parroquia durante 27 a\u00f1os y aqu\u00ed se conservan sus restos. Y si eres un fan incondicional de Bach, tambi\u00e9n puedes visitar el museo de la ciudad dedicado a \u00e9l<\/p>\n<p>La otra plaza importante de Leipzig es <strong>Augustusplatz<\/strong>, dominada por la \u00d3pera de Leipzig, la antigua torre del reloj del Museo Egipcio, la hermosa Fuente de Mende, la sala de conciertos Gewandhaus y la futurista Iglesia de San Pablo.<\/p>\n<p>Si te apetece descubrir el lado alternativo de Leipzig, ve al barrio de<strong> Plagwitz<\/strong> y, en particular, a la Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei, una impresionante zona industrial que hoy alberga talleres creativos y galer\u00edas de arte de todo tipo.
