Esta ciudad, que en su tiempo fue el lugar de encuentro del Imperio Habsburgo y punto de encuentro, con sus vivaces y espl\u00e9ndidos caf\u00e9s, de escritores y fil\u00f3sofos como <strong>James Joyce<\/strong>, Italo Svevo, Umberto Saba y Rainer Maria Rilke, ha sido siempre fuente de inspiraci\u00f3n para viajeros e intelectuales. Su esp\u00edritu elegante, abierto a lo nuevo, multi\u00e9tnico y sugestivo ha hecho de esta ciudad un punto de uni\u00f3n de la cultura latina, eslava, jud\u00eda y alemana.<\/p>\n<p>El elegante centro de Trieste, que asombra por su tranquilidad, encandila con sus numerosos caf\u00e9s de la <em>belle \u00e9poque<\/em>, el fotog\u00e9nico Canal Grande, perfecto para pasear y sentirse transportado en el tiempo, y sobre todo la espl\u00e9ndida <strong>Piazza Unit\u00e0 d\u2019Italia<\/strong>, que se asoma al Golfo de Trieste y est\u00e1 considerada como una de las m\u00e1s bellas de Italia. Desde aqu\u00ed, tras admirar las fachadas de sus edificios, puedes ir a descubrir el Borgo Teresiano, la ciudadela que construy\u00f3 la emperatriz Mar\u00eda Teresa de Austria en 1700, y la colina de San Justo, en cuya cima se encuentra la Catedral, construida en 1300 y que hoy d\u00eda domina la ciudad. <\/p>\n<p>No te puedes perder tampoco el <strong>Castello di Miramare<\/strong>, a menos de 10 km del centro de la ciudad, construido en el a\u00f1o 800 por el archiduque Maximiliano de Habsburgo y su esposa Lorena, que hoy cuenta con un museo y una amplia biblioteca y est\u00e1 rodeado por un parque exuberante. Un paseo a lo largo de sus muros te permitir\u00e1 admirar el edificio desde el exterior y disfrutar de las hermosas vistas al mar. <\/p>\n<p>Si te gustan los museos, puedes visitar tambi\u00e9n el interesante Museo Ferroviario de Campo Marzio, mientras que a 5 km de Trieste se encuentra la <strong>Risiera di San Sabba<\/strong>, el lugar donde se encontraba el \u00fanico campo de concentraci\u00f3n nazi en Italia. La visita al museo, a los edificios donde se reclu\u00eda a los prisioneros y al horno crematorio es una experiencia impresionante y particularmente emotiva, indispensable para mantener viva la memoria.<\/p>\n<p>Para quien, adem\u00e1s del ambiente urbano, busca un poco de relax en la naturaleza, la provincia de Trieste es un verdadero para\u00edso.
