This pioneering spirit continues to this day. Its three surf reserves are at the vanguard of the many beaches along the coast enjoyed by surfers from around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Cantabria has <strong>seven must-see surfing sanctuaries:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/turismodecantabria.com\/municipios\/ribamontan-al-mar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ribamont\u00e1n al Mar<\/a><\/strong>: located to the east of the Bay of Santander, boasting almost two kilometres of fine, golden sand and big swells, you can catch a wave here year-round.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1718\" height=\"894\" src=\"https:\/\/volare.volotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.-RIBAMONTAN-AL-MAR1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9180\" srcset=\"https:\/\/volare.volotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.-RIBAMONTAN-AL-MAR1.jpg 1718w, https:\/\/volare.volotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.-RIBAMONTAN-AL-MAR1-300x156.jpg 300w, https:\/\/volare.volotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.-RIBAMONTAN-AL-MAR1-768x400.jpg 768w, https:\/\/volare.volotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/2.-RIBAMONTAN-AL-MAR1-1024x533.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1718px) 100vw, 1718px\" \/><\/figure>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/turismodecantabria.com\/disfrutala\/playas\/1-playa-de-berria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Berria<\/a><\/strong>: in Santo\u00f1a, more than two kilometres of white sand stretch between Mount Brusco and Mount Buciero on the isthmus that joins the breathtaking peninsula around Mount Buciero to the municipality of Argo\u00f1os.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1100\" height=\"733\" src=\"https:\/\/volare.volotea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/08\/3.-BERRIA1-e1565245809791.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9181\"\/><\/figure>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.turismodecantabria.com\/disfrutala\/playas\/11-playa-primera-del-sardinero\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">El Sardinero<\/a><\/strong>: a pretty seafront that enjoys a prime location in the Cantabrian capital.
