Bastia<\/a> does not need to be explored in a rush. In fact, it is better enjoyed when you avoid turning it into a sequence of must-see stops. Its appeal lies not only in what you see, but in the way you move from one atmosphere to another: from the port to the old neighbourhood, from terraces to the market, from boats to the silence of a narrow street.<\/p>\n

A walk through Bastia should include food, even if in a simple form. There is no need to book a fancy restaurant to capture the local flavour. Around the Vieux Port and Terra Vecchia there are caf\u00e9s, terraces<\/strong>, small venues and shops where you can try Corsican products.<\/p>\n

For an informal bite to eat, a board of island charcuterie and cheeses<\/a>, a salad made with local produce, a bakery speciality or a fish dish near the port would do perfectly. Bastia is also recognised as a hub for food and wine,<\/strong> which fits well with an unhurried urban trip.<\/p>\n
